Who May Use Interlibrary Lending

Interlibrary Lending is conducted between libraries, not between a library and an individual. MSL loans materials to other libraries for their patrons' use.

Loan Period

  • Two weeks with a possible two-week renewal
  • Loans are subject to recall

Delivery

  • Articles are delivered electronically
  • Books may be mailed through Fedex and USPS if international

Billing

  • OCLC IFM and Docline EFTS are the preferred methods of payment
  • Invoices to non-IFM or EFTS participants are sent monthly with a $10.00 fee added
  • Texas A&M University Libraries will now accept credit card payments at our secure website.
    A 2.75% non-refundable fee is charged to all credit card payments

  • NLM Region 5
    • Medical Libraries: $10.00
    • Academic Libraries: $15.00
  • Outside NLM Region 5
    • Medical Libraries: $15.00
    • Academic Libraries: $15.00
  • Other Libraries

    International Libraries outside the Continental U.S.;
    Commercial Document Suppliers;
    Business Libraries;
    Law Firm Libraries; and
    Private, Commercial or Corporate sector Libraries are charged $25.00 per request.

  • Rush fee is $5.00

Response Time

All requests are searched the same day if received by 3:00 p.m. Every attempt will be made to mail books and scan articles within two working days of receipt of the request.
